Christmas Celebrations at the APNA Daycare Centre.
On December 20, 2024, we joyfully gathered to celebrate our first Christmas of the year at a beautifully decorated local venue. The atmosphere was filled with warmth and cheer, creating a perfect backdrop for a day overflowing with joy, excitement, hope, and heartfelt reflection. A delightful crowd of 50 attendees came together, including public servants, dedicated committee members from the Sikh community centre, and committed trustees from the Leamington Spa temple. Also present were social workers and representatives from the Warwickshire Learning Partnership. The joy of the occasion was palpable, as all of our service users, along with their families, staff, and volunteers, embraced the spirit of the holiday. Our event featured a diverse lineup of guest speakers who shared inspiring words with the audience. Among them was the esteemed president of the local gurdwara, Jaswant Singh Virdi, who spoke passionately about community unity and social and spiritual wellness. We were also honoured to welcome three local councillors: Hema Yellerpradga, Naveen Tangri, and Sweta Lekhy, each bringing their unique perspectives on community service and engagement. To highlight the specialness of the day, our distinguished guest, Dr. Christopher Johnson, presented a publication to all attendees. Dr. Johnson is a prominent civic leader, celebrated author, and the newly appointed editor of The Phoenix newspaper, known for his contributions as a business consultant. Throughout the event, guest speakers expressed their admiration for the APNA Daycare Centre, emphasizing its vital role within the community and the nurturing spirit it fosters. Their warm words resonated deeply, reinforcing the connection between service, well-being, and the vibrant community we all cherish. The day concluded with a sense of fulfilment and community spirit that left a lasting impression on everyone present. The families of service users spoke passionately about how the Centre is meeting their needs and ensuring that their elders feel valued. Almost all attendees echoed, that the "The Centre is a lifeline for our elders; we want to see it grow and flourish”.
